Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure that removes excess skin and, when necessary, fat from the eyelids to improve both appearance and function. In the upper eyelids, it can help reduce a heavy or tired look and, in some cases, improve vision when excess skin interferes with the visual field.
The procedure is usually performed as a day case under local anaesthetic. The incision is placed within the natural eyelid crease so that any scar is well hidden. Recovery is generally straightforward, with temporary swelling or bruising expected in the first days, and most patients notice a more open, refreshed appearance as healing progresses.
